Dirextalk Terms of Service

These terms apply to this website, project-controlled support or safety channels, and materials made available by the Dirextalk project. They do not automatically become the end-user terms of an independently operated node.
These terms are between you and the individual developer who operates Dirextalk (the “Developer”). Mandatory law may give you rights that cannot be limited by contract.
1. Eligibility and capacity
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these terms to use project-operated interactive services or support. If you lack legal capacity, do not use those channels. The public documentation may be read without creating an account.
An independent node operator that chooses to permit minors is responsible for its own lawful eligibility, guardian authorization, age or real-identity measures, minor mode, safety controls, notices, rights handling, and terms. Dirextalk software does not supply those obligations by default.
2. Service and independent-node boundary
Dirextalk provides software and documentation for independently operated, Matrix-backed social communication. Features can depend on node configuration, participating services, device permissions, network conditions, WebRTC support, federation, and third-party or user-operated Agent runtimes.
An independent node operator's own terms and privacy notice govern its hosted service and users. The Dirextalk project does not administer, moderate, promise availability for, or contract on behalf of a node merely because it runs Dirextalk software.
3. Open-source software and intellectual property
The applicable open-source license in each repository governs copying, modification, and distribution of that software and takes precedence over these website terms if there is a conflict about licensed code. Third-party components remain subject to their own licenses.
Unless a repository license or applicable law permits it, these terms do not grant rights in Dirextalk names, logos, website presentation, or other project materials. Do not falsely imply endorsement or project affiliation.
4. User and operator responsibilities
Node operators are responsible for configuration, access, security, backups, data administration, notices, moderation, and compliance in environments they control. Users are responsible for content they send or share and for protecting devices, credentials, keys, and administration access under their control.
Do not rely on the project website as an emergency, child-safety, law-enforcement, or data-backup service. Contact local emergency services when someone is in immediate danger and contact the relevant node operator about node-controlled content or accounts.
5. Prohibited conduct and content
You must use project-controlled services lawfully and must not:
- Send spam, harassment, threats, phishing, fraud, malware, or deceptive content.
- Impersonate others or distribute illegal, infringing, hateful, violent, exploitative, or otherwise harmful material.
- Sexually exploit, groom, endanger, or unlawfully expose the personal information of a child or minor.
- Attack, disrupt, scrape abusively, or gain unauthorized access to the website, nodes, rooms, Agents, services, or devices.
- Evade reporting, blocking, safety controls, access boundaries, sanctions, or applicable law.
6. Project-controlled safety and enforcement
We may investigate reports and restrict, reject, preserve, or remove material from project-controlled channels where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, or enforcement of these terms. We may limit contact or access to those channels after abuse. Actions will be proportionate where practical and subject to mandatory rights.
Independent operators control enforcement on their deployments. Reports about an independent node should be sent to its operator; the project cannot directly remove node-controlled data or accounts.
7. Availability, disclaimers, and mandatory rights
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the website, software, and documentation are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without a promise of uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or universally available operation. Independent operators and third parties may change or stop their services without project control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer rights, statutory warranties, liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or remedies available under applicable law. Any limitation is effective only to the extent permitted in your circumstances.
8. Changes, disputes, and contact
Questions can be sent to liyananinsh@outlook.com. We may update these terms prospectively as project-controlled services change and will update the date above. Material changes should receive appropriate notice.
These terms do not require arbitration or select an exclusive court. Applicable mandatory law and any court or dispute process with lawful jurisdiction remain available according to the facts and your circumstances.
